Flavie Laplante est une artiste émergente détenant un baccalauréat en photographie à l’Université Concordia, Tiohtià:ke (Montréal).
Utilisant la photographie argentique et numérique, Flavie cherche à traduire ses réflexions et ses observations des environnements campagnards et des paysages ruraux. L’immensité du paysage rural et l’éloignement créent un espace d’introspection et surtout, d’imagination. L’univers entouré de champs et de grandes étendues où Flavie a grandi nourrit son imaginaire et l’accompagne dans son parcours artistique.
Interrogeant son propre rapport avec la nature, elle propose des images dans lesquelles elle aborde différentes manœuvres qui l’engagent dans ces environnements. À travers ses photographies, le paysage, romancé et sublimé, devient plus grand que lui-même. Il y a aussi l’expérience personnelle et la notion particulière d’un tableau vivant dans lequel un sujet naturel prédomine l’espace. Flavie a développé une écriture visuelle comme la continuité dans la présentation de ses sujets de manière récurrente.
En compilant ses observations et la narrativité entre ses images des esprits intangibles des régions, Flavie documente la fragilité de ces environnements en s’appropriant une partie de ces territoires. Ses projets sont le résultat d’une enquête et expliquent sa compréhension personnelle du lieu ; une collaboration entre elle, nous tous et les sujets.
Flavie Laplante is an emerging artist from Montreal. She graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Major in Photography) in 2022.
Using analogue and digital photography, Flavie seeks to translate her ideologies and her observations of the rural environments and rural landscapes. The vastness of the rural landscape and the remoteness create a space for introspection and above all, for imagination. The countryside surrounded by fields where Flavie grew up feeds her imagination and follows her in her artistic practice.
Questioning her own relationship with nature, she offers images in which she engages in different maneuvers that engage her in these environments. Through her photographs, the landscape, romanticized and sublimated, becomes bigger than itself. There is also the personal experience and the particular notion of a tableau vivant in which a natural subject dominates the space. Flavie has developed a visual writing like a continuity in the presentation of her subjects in a recurring way.
By compiling her observations and the narrativity between her images of the intangible essence regions, Flavie documents the fragility of these environments by appropriating a part of these territories. Her projects are the result of an investigation and explain her personal understanding of the place; a collaboration between her, all of us and the subjects.
